A GoFundMe campaign has been launched on behalf of Barker’s wife, Dr. Natalie Barker, by her colleagues at Chatham Animal Clinic in Virginia to help fund their son Noah’s education. As of Saturday, March 9, the fundraiser has raised over $16,000 toward its $50,000 goal.
Barker, 31, was shot in the torso inside a home in the 900 block of Countryside Drive in Ringgold, Virginia on Tuesday, March 5, at 7:42 p.m., according to the Pittsylvania County Sheriff's Office. Deputies and emergency medical personnel arrived to find him unresponsive. He was rushed to SOVAH Health in Danville, where he was pronounced dead.
Their preliminary investigation determined the shooting was accidental, though they are awaiting the medical examiner’s report to finalize their findings, authorities said.
"Kaleb was an exceptional husband, father, and son," the fundraiser states. "He knew no stranger—he would give the shirt off his back to anyone." His loss has devastated both his family and the firefighting community.
Donations continue to pour in from those wanting to help, with the top single contribution reaching $2,500. Organizers encourage anyone willing to support Noah’s future to contribute.
